Los
Angeles City Issues - Did your business miss the Interim Control
Ordinance 179027 filing deadline? We have the City Cerk's I.C.O.
Hardship Exemption Request. These have to be filled out and filed
with the Clerk. The Planning and Land Use Management Committee
will review the Exemption Requests and present them to the L.A. City
Counsel. The applicant will have to appear before the counsel for
a question and answer session before the counsel decides to grant or
deny the request for exemption.

HELP WITH ALL THIS?
One can only assume the City's next move in all this. My opinion?
I believe the businesses that failed to file the documents in time will
be visited by the LAPD and shut down for failing to file. The ones
that did file should expect a visit from the City Building Inspector to
ensure that the establishment is up to code and there are no violations.
This includes exit signs, extinguishers, GFI plugs, handicapped
facilities and more.

HELP WITH ALL THIS?
Hello, my name is Scott Linden and I am a California licensed corporate
and business attorney
practicing in the City of Pasadena, in Los Angeles, CA.
My family came to California by wagon train many
generations ago and settled much of the area. I am a third
generation U.C.L.A. Bruin and a stout advocate for the legalization of
marijuana for its numerous medicinal and commercial uses as well as its
well-documented, historically religious nature.
- In 1990, I graduated Santa Monica College
earning an Associate in Arts degree in Liberal Arts.
- In 1993, I graduated UCLA earning a Bachelor of
Arts in Psychology. While at UCLA, I volunteered time with Dr.
O. Ivaar Lovaas in the child development department where I was a
behavior modification therapist for autistic children under 6 years
old.
- In 1996, I graduated California Western School
of Law earning a Juris Doctor degree.
- I am a member of the NORML legal committee
I passed the California
Bar in 1997 and was sworn in for the State of California and for the
Southern Federal District Court. In 1998 I took and passed the New
York State Bar, but I chose not to swear in; I decided to practice in
California.
Since then, I have been the general counsel for
several large corporations including a nationwide plumbing contractor
and supplier and a dental supply company who, at the time, was earning
over $100,000,000 annually.
I now work with Schofield,
Grossman & Linden, located in Pasadena since 1978, the firm
has a strong base in Trusts, Estates, Tax and General Business
Law,
I am a licensed numismatist and I
avidly collect large, small, colonial and obsolete currency
dating to the late 1700's. I also collect coins from the early
1787 Fugio Cent (made from the copper that held the powder keg
barrels given to the US by the French during the Revolution) to
the modern US gold & Silver bullion.

Recently, with the
creation Proposition 215 and Senate Bill 420,
there have been a dramatic increase in the number of Medical Marijuana
Dispensaries in and around the greater Los Angeles area. As a
legal California business entity, a properly formed and designed MMD
should receive the complete benefits and protections offered by the
State of California under the 10th Amendment of the Constitution of the
United States. I have assisted several of these to become
compliant with the state, county and city rules, regulations and zoning
ordinances.
